Brownfields Summit 2026

The third biennial Brownfields Summit is coming to Newport, RI, on Dec. 9-10th.

This two-day Summit is hosted by UConn TAB and the Northeast Waste Management Officials’ Association (NEWMOA), in collaboration with the EPA Region 1 Brownfields Program and various regional tribal and state brownfields programs. This event will bring together stakeholders from across New England, including local developers, planning and economic development consultants, environmental professionals, local government officials, and job training grantees.

Summit Tracks and Topics

Track 1: State Showcase

Summer 2026 MAP Recipients

UConn TAB’s Municipal Assistance Program(MAP) provides free-of-charge services for municipalities, non-profits, regional planning associations, and other public entities.
The program runs three times a year, and this summer, 18 entities for a total of 21 projects were accepted into the Summer 2026 MAP program. These projects will provide technical assistance for projects spanning from grant support, record review, site reuse assessment, brownfield inventory, to community engagement.
We are excited to be working with these entities this summer!

FY27 EPA Brownfield Grants Notice

FY 2027 Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grant

EPA anticipates issuing the following solicitations for funding in Fall 2026:

  • FY 2027 Assessment Grants
  • FY 2027 Revolving Loan Fund Grants
  • FY 2026 Cleanup Grants

The application submission deadline will be approximately 60 calendar days after the solicitations are published.

EPA anticipates offering grants at the following amounts in FY 2027. All amounts are subject to change.

Return to Annual Appropriation Statutory Requirements

In FY 2027, grants will be funded solely by annual appropriations Congress provides to EPA’s Brownfields and Land Revitalization Program. Grants will be subject to the following statutory requirements:

  • Individual grant awards must not exceed statutory limits under CERCLA § 104(k).
  • Site assessments may not exceed $200,000 per site.
  • Cleanup and Revolving Loan Fund Grant recipients must provide a 20% cost share/match.

New Service: Translation Service Launched!

In partnership with Fox Translation, this service is available in more than 130 languages. This annual event offered communities across Connecticut a valuable opportunity to connect with the representatives from local, state, and regional funding organizations. 2.  Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop (NSCW) 2026

Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop

The Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop 2026 is taking place in Massachusetts on June 16 and June 17. Under the new theme, ‘From Contamination to Community Assets,’ this year’s workshop focuses on transformation efforts to turn affected communities into resilient and revitalized assets. 3. RLF Workshop in Maine

Southeastern Massachusetts Brownfields Roundtable will take place in East Bridgewater on April 30. Co-hosted by MassDEP and the Old Colony Planning Council, this roundtable event provides opportunities to learn about current funding and technical assistance from MassDEP, MassDEEP, EPA, and UConn TAB.

The National Brownfields Training Conference 2027

The National Brownfields Training Conference is the largest event in the nation focused on environmental revitalization and economic redevelopment.
