UConn TAB Spring 2025 Municipal Assistance Program

The Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) is now accepting new applications for the Spring 2025 by Nov 29th!

The program is open to all New England communities and the selected communities will be provided our technical assistance.

    • Services Provided: Brownfield Inventories, Summaries of Environmental Records, Site Reuse Assessments, Record Reviews, Grant Prep, and Community Engagement Materials

      Fall 2024 MAP Recipients

      This Fall semester, the selected Fall MAP recipients will be working alongside UConn students who are participating in our service-learning Brownfields Course. During this, the municipalities will be receiving free-of-charge support on their FY25 Brownfield Grant applications.  To learn more about our Municipal Assistance Program: https://tab.program.uconn.edu/map-acc/
      The following 14 entities applied and were selected to participate in the Fall 2024 MAP.  Of these, 57% of the entities represent environmental justice communities throughout New England. We are excited to continue to collaborate and support the efforts to create healthy and sustainable communities! If you were unable to participate in our Fall MAP, you can still get grant support from UConn TAB! Keep an eye out for our grant reviews, webinars, and grant writing work sessions!

      Fall 2023 MAP Recipients

      We had a lot of interest in our Fall Municipal Assistance Program. We are happy to report that we have accepted and will be helping 12map recipients communities this Fall through MAP. These projects represent communities in CT and MA and support all types of EPA MAC Grants. If you were not a part of our Fall Municipal Assistance Program there are still opportunities for you to receive UConn TAB support on your grant application.       UConn TAB Spring 2023 Municipal Assistance Program Recipients

      We are excited to announce the UConn TAB Spring Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) recipients!

      This Spring semester, our students will be working with communities across New England on brownfield redevelopment projects through the activities of the course Brownfields Redevelopment Practicum. The municipalities will be receiving free-of-charge technical assistance to advance brownfields redevelopment in their communities. The list of projects includes the 4 development of brownfields inventories, 3 record reviews and 6 site reuse assessments.

      UConn TAB Hosts Community Event in Claremont, NH

      On September 29th, UConn TAB helped their Summer MAP recipient, the Town of Claremont, with a public workshop on . During the workshop, UConn TAB, gave a presentation that briefly gave background information on brownfields and a site reuse assessment for the Sugar River Land sites of interest. The Summer MAP project worked with UConn TAB student intern Aaron Hinze to investigate and determine possible reuse options based on zoning, land restrictions, community input, and more. The initial results of this investigation were shown via digital renderings. Following the presentation of these renderings, UConn TAB led a group discussion wherein community members were asked specific questions regarding how these renderings fit the needs and priorities of the Town. Ideas were shared on sticky notes and then a representative from each group shared their thoughts out loud. These ideas were recorded and documented in the final report UConn TAB will be sending to the Town of Claremont. We hope that this report helps articulate the wants of Claremont for these sites and provides guidance for future reuse and redevelopment of the site.site photo  site photo site photo site photo site photo site photo site photo
